When East Renfrewshire Council decided to replace their ageing heat pump swimming pool air handling unit, with a variable volume fresh air system in order to improve the internal conditions, the cost of a replacement unit was not the only consideration.
To handle the required air volume the minimum dimensions of the new unit were 2.97m long 1.6 wide and 2.3m high. Getting this unit into the building would involve removing part of the external wall or a section of the roof, two options that did not appeal to the Council. So when Recotherm advised that they could build the unit on-site to the same standard achieved in the factory, without having to undertake any of the suggested structural work to the building, the Council were delighted.
The project was completed within 3 weeks, the first week was used to remove the existing unit. The second was taken up installing the new unit after the ductwork had been modified to suit, the system was up and running at a fraction of the cost of the cost initially estimated.
