The existing unit was a Calorex HRD 15, handling 12,000 m3/h (3.33m3/s). The condition in the pool hall had not been right for two years and the owners had spent a lot of money trying to maintain the unit. They took the decision to replace the unit with another Calorex unit but, when they approached the consultant he told them about another site that had a Calorex unit replaced with a Recotherm unit two years earlier and were happy with the results. This second site was Crowood Leisure Centre, Mike Holgate of Holgate Caravan Park visited Crowood, and there, took the decision to change his unit for a Recotherm unit because he was particularly impressed with the simplicity of the system.
Holgate Holiday Park organised the removal of the existing unit and the installation of the new unit themselves. Recotherm delivered the unit on the Friday before work commenced and commissioned the unit the following Wednesday.
