Due to the operational and reliability issues of the existing Dantherm unit the pool hall conditions could not be maintained in-line with criteria set by CIBSE. The heat pump system was redundant offering no energy efficiency, the control system was non-operational, and the unit was running at a fixed high speed setting resulting in high energy consumption.
Recotherm were appointed to carry out the replacement of the swimming pool ventilation air handling unit.
Following the feasibility and design approvals the existing unit was isolated, made safe, and then stripped out and removed from site.
Recotherm provided a new ventilation unit in a flat pack form; this was constructed on-site, within the plantroom, eliminating the need for expensive builders works. Upon completion of the construction, the existing ducting was modified to suit the arrangement of the VFHE unit.
Modification to the LTHW pipework and electrical distribution were also carried out.
Completion of the installation followed with the set-up and commissioning of the new unit. The pool hall internal environment is now extremely good and in-line with design intent.
