F G Alden Choose Recotherm for prestigious Blackbird leys
F.G. Alden Ltd of Oxford were awarded the contract to supply the mechanical and electrical services for the prestigious new Blackbird Leys swimming complex in Oxford. The new facility comprised a 25m main pool with moveable floor, a teaching pool, a toddlers’ splash pool, village and group changing facilities, spectator seating including café style area, a sauna, and a soft play area. The new facility had a number of energy efficient and carbon reduction measures including a biomass boiler, combined heat and power unit, pool covers, and energy efficient plant and lighting.
F.G. Alden’s have been one of the country’s leading M&E services companies for over 85 years, working on some of the highest profile projects. In the original specification for the Blackbird Leys project, the environmental control units were to be from a German manufacturer. However, Alden’s got in touch with Recotherm and asked them to specify suitable units, as they knew with Recotherm there would be a significant saving in running costs, with no loss of air quality or performance; as well as better characteristics in meeting the energy-efficiency and carbon-reduction aims.
