At what stage do you get involved on projects, is it mainly at procurement or can you provide input at an earlier design stage?
Getting us involved right from the initial concept or earlier design stage has advantages over waiting for the procurement process to begin.
Sharing outline information such as pool size, pool hall volume, glazing and construction as well as target temperatures means we can calculate air volumes and propose a suitable unit selection.
At this early stage we can then provide information on unit size, weight, ductwork connections, access and plantroom requirements, all of which helps to properly integrate the system into the building design. We will also be able to provide outline performance data to give you an indication of typical energy usage.
Early engagement also helps identify key issues such as evaporation, heat loss, air change rate or pressure control and allows the impact of different heat sources, such as gas or heat pumps, to be assessed, avoiding any late stage redesign and maximising performance.
Pool projects are typically a long-cycle, so early technical input is encouraged and we have no expectation of an immediate order.
Do you refurbish or upgrade other manufacturers’ units?
Refurbishment of viable AHUs is a key part of our sustainability philosophy.
We regularly refurbish and upgrade other manufacturers’ units, including energy-efficient fan replacements, control upgrades that ensure optimum energy usage and adapting systems to work with modern heat pump solutions.
Where refurbishment isn’t viable, replacement units can be designed to fit existing footprints and ductwork, flat-packed and assembled on-site to reduce disruption and waste.
Can a swimming pool ventilation system be installed outside?
Yes, Recotherm units can be weatherproofed for outdoor installation at no extra cost. However, the control panel should be housed in a protected environment or placed indoors for easy access.
Do your units operate using an air-source heat pump?
Yes, the Aerum Recotherm unit is a boiler-free system that combines fresh air dehumidification with renewable heating technology.
Why should a Recotherm ventilation system be chosen over other options?
Recotherm has been specialising in the design of air handling units specifically for indoor swimming pools for over 40 years. Unlike generic ventilation systems, Recotherm units are engineered to withstand the high humidity and corrosive atmosphere of pool environments while maintaining optimal swimming pool ventilation. In particular the control strategy used in our units has been developed over 40 years experience to ensure the best environment for the lowest running cost.
Recotherm systems feature advanced energy-saving technologies such as heat recovery, significantly reducing running costs compared to conventional systems. These units also ensure superior air quality by efficiently removing chloramines and unwanted smells while maintaining balanced humidity levels. This makes them particularly suitable for leisure centres which have shared spaces around the pool that need to be kept fresh and odour-free.
