Intelligent Engineering

Recotherm’s innovative approach has revolutionised indoor swimming pool dehumidification. Using controlled fresh air and smart technology, Recotherm’s AHUs maintain optimal humidity levels in pool halls with the lowest running costs on the market.

Advanced Fan Technology

The Aeris range features variable-speed ZA bluefin fans that adapt precisely to the speed required, achieving up to 300% greater efficiency than standard fans.

Unmatched Energy Savings

Aeris ventilation systems deliver exceptional efficiency, resulting in significant energy savings. Removing a kilogram of moisture with a Recotherm controlled fresh air unit costs just 25% of a typical refrigerant-based dehumidifier system.

Bespoke Programming

Our engineers can create bespoke programming solutions for individual units to accommodate features such as moveable floors and external elements like bi-fold or sliding doors.

Tailored Systems for Specific Projects

For unconventional or unique projects, our engineers excel at designing and delivering bespoke AHU systems to meet specific requirements.

Reduce Energy Usage with Smart Management Systems

Recotherm units can intelligently respond to environmental changes within the ventilation system.

All units are equipped with a Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) microprocessor which sends signals to the working parts.

This means we can ensure that the pool air handling unit is always operating at maximum efficiency, which helps to minimise energy consumption.

The Recotherm Difference

Breathe the Difference

Aeris uses fresh air flow to control humidity, creating a cleaner, fresher environment and significantly reducing chemical odours.

  • Warm, humid air is drawn from the pool hall and fresh air is supplied using ZA bluefin backward-curve centrifugal fans for enhanced efficiency.
  • A passive heat exchanger (recuperator) captures heat from the return air and transfers it to incoming fresh air, raising its temperature while reducing energy consumption.
  • Fresh air is taken from outside and the exhaust of humid air is regulated to create a cleaner, fresher, more comfortable pool environment.
  • Humidity levels are managed using fresh air, which eliminates the need for energy-intensive processes.
  • Fully modulating heating valves, fans and dampers adjust dynamically to use only the energy required, maintaining consistent, optimum pool hall conditions.

A Highly Engineered Superior System

Aeris units are constructed to maintain optimal performance at all times. The double-skinned, insulated casework panels help to prevent heat loss in cold plant rooms and heat soak in warm environments.

High-grade ISO-Class 65% Grade Filtration filters are supplied as standard, and are designed to be easily replaced for trouble-free maintenance. Recotherm units are engineered for longevity, with a typical lifespan of 30 years+ and fully recyclable parts.

Hoar-Cross-Hall-

How Hoar Cross Hall Upgraded Their AHU in Just 5 Weeks

In early June 2024 we were asked to quote on supplying an air handling unit (AHU) for a saltwater pool at Hoar Cross Hall, a prestigious, award-winning Spa Hotel in Staffordshire. Following extensive liaison with our in-house experts, the order for an Aeris 200 was placed on 12 June 2024 with the request of a quick turnaround.

Popular questions
What pool size is the Aeris 50–200 series designed for?
The Aeris 50–200 series is suitable for intermediate indoor swimming pools and spa areas up to 200m² surface area. It is ideal for commercial leisure facilities, larger residential pools and mid-sized wellness spaces that require reliable humidity control and fresh air management.
How does the Aeris 50–200 series manage humidity without refrigerants?
Each Aeris unit uses controlled fresh air ventilation rather than refrigerant-based dehumidification. Warm, humid air is extracted from the pool hall, while fresh outside air is introduced. A passive heat exchanger (recuperator) transfers heat from outgoing air to incoming air, maintaining comfort while reducing energy consumption.
Can Aeris 50–200 units be installed externally?
Yes. The system offers flexible installation options and can be installed horizontally, vertically, externally, or on rooftops. Flat-pack configurations are also available where plant room access is limited, making it suitable for both new builds and retrofit projects.
How often does a unit in the Aeris 50–200 series need to be serviced?
Recotherm recommends regular servicing by its in-house team of trained ventilation engineers, with schedules ranging from annual visits to more frequent intervals depending on the demands of the installation. Every service involves a thorough inspection of all components to ensure the unit continues performing as efficiently as it did on day one.
How energy efficient is the Aeris 50–200 series?
The Aeris 50–200 series is designed to deliver low running costs. Power consumption starts from 0.07 kW at half speed and 0.55 kW at full speed (Aeris 50 model). Integrated BEMS microprocessor controls automatically adjust fans, dampers and heating valves to ensure the unit operates at maximum efficiency while minimising energy use.
